MEET Daisy and Dixie, the canine sisters who have proved to social media that being different is cool. Their owner, Sheena Yamazaki, of Arizona, adopted Daisy 11 years ago when she came across the pup on an adoption website. Sheena, who grew up in a pet-loving household, started volunteering at animal rescue charities when she was a teenager. She has always felt “empathy towards the voiceless” as a result of dealing with bullying throughout high school. Sheena said: "Because of that connection that I already had with animals and especially for the voiceless ones that had really a sad background, I just really wanted to help them out and that is what really initially drew me into it." When Sheena first saw Daisy in a video clip, she instantly fell in love with the pup. Daisy has a congenital leg disease and uses prosthetics with a wheelie cart to get around. Daisy also has an underbite, which Sheena fondly incorporated into the pet's social media handles, “Daisy Underbite”. What started as simply documenting Daisy's everyday activities, soon caught the attention of thousands of people who began following her. About six years ago, a new member joined the family - Sheena adopted Dixie, a pug that had been paralysed in her hind legs from an accident. It took Daisy a while to warm up to Dixie but the pair have grown so close they are inseparable. Now known as "Underbite Unite", the canine sisters have amassed over 194,000 followers on Instagram with their heart-melting snaps and video clips.
