It was 27 degrees at the start. The first 5 miles were very slow going as we had to walk our boats so many times through shallow sections. Our feet were so cold by mile 5 (even with dry suits) that we had to stop and warm them for about 20 mins. We thought there was no way we were going to get as far as we had planned day 1 but after our stop, it was much smoother and enjoyable with much less walking from mile 5 to 10. From mile 10 to 18.5 (day 1 camp) was a beautiful float with hardly any walking. Day two was absolutely incredible and we never had to walk our boats all the way to Hite. The first 10 miles was an unreal canyon that never stopped. The canyon walls were towering in the distance around every bend. The last mile to the Colorado was so narrow, fast and fun. What a way to end such an amazing trip! Day one took 7 hours 20 mins and day two took 4 hours of paddling.
