The Dover and Green Talc mines, were established around 1929 and saw limited but notable activity through the 1930s. These adjacent mines were primarily worked for andalusite, a mineral used in high-temperature industrial applications like refractories and ceramics. Additional minerals extracted from the site included pyrophyllite, diaspore, corundum, halloysite, and quartz, all of which were hosted in metamorphosed volcanic rock. The Dover Mine featured a 200-foot shaft, adits, and trenches, while the Green Talc Mine consisted of open pits and smaller adits. Together, they produced at least 450 tons of material by 1936.
