The bandstand in Priory Park is a historic octagonal structure, originally built in 1957. It features eight iron columns and a roof topped with a golden crown, standing on a concrete base with two steps.
The bandstand hosts the Music in the Park series on weekends and bank holidays from around April through September, offering a variety of free live performances including brass bands, jazz groups, duos, and choirs.
Under the leadership of Paul Hillson, Southend Band has proudly carried the title Official Town Band. Since that time, the band has rehearsed on Thursday evenings, first at the Civic Centre in Victoria Avenue and, more recently, at St Peter’s Church Hall in Eastbourne Grove, Westcliff-on-Sea.
