"꽃잎 한잎(2021)" 작곡가 장동인 / 현대 서양음악과 한국 판소리의 만남/"Ein Blütenblatt"

2021년 2월 8일 독일 에센에서 발표한
현대음악 작품 공연 영상입니다.
이번 프로젝트는 악기소리, 인성, 움직임, 전자음악과
극적 요소가 담긴 복합 예술로써
한국 전통악기 해금과 가야금, 그리고 판소리 소리꾼의 음향과
한국 음악적 특성, 분위기, 아우라를 담고 있습니다.

허공을 헤매이며 떨어지는...
저 꽃잎 한잎...
무엇을 위함인가...
그리고... 그 이후...

소리꾼의 노래, 의성어, 이야기, 대화, 몸짓, 표정, 감정, 고수의 장단 등. 이 모든 요소가 밀접하게
결합된 극적인 종합예술. 바로 판소리다. 스토리는 물론 한과 얼이 담긴 판소리는 예로부터 내려오던
고유의 민속악. 대표적인 판소리인 심청가를 나만의 새로운 시각으로 재해석했다. 한국악기와 서양악
기의 음향으로 새롭게 태어난 심청가 ‘꽃잎 한잎’. 전통 판소리에서 소리꾼은 목소리와 텍스트를 기반
으로 이야기를 풀어 나가지만, ‘꽃잎 한잎’에서는 텍스트를 비롯해 상황, 감정 등 이야기를 구성하는
모든 요소들이 악기의 소리로 묘사되어 보다 깊은 내면의 감정을 이끌어내고, 해석의 스펙트럼을 넓
히고 있다. 심청이 어머니의 죽음에 슬퍼하는 상여소리 장면부터 장님이 된 아버지의 눈을 뜨게 하기
위해 제물로 팔려가 바다에 몸을 던지는 인당수 투신 장면까지. 여러 악기가 어우러져 표현되는 느리
고 깊은 농현과 길고 무거운 글리산도의 움직임은 심청의 기구한 운명을 암시하고 대금의 급박한 텅
잉과 들숨 프레이즈는 심청이 느끼는 두려움, 공포의 감정을 고스란히 담아내려 했다.
자유로우면서도 표현적인 농현, 추성, 퇴성. 한국 전통 음악의 요소를 곡 전반에 적극적으로 사용하
며 음의 유연하고 곡선적인 움직임을 통해 음색간의 전환으로 입체적인 음향을 구현한 ‘꽃잎 한잎’.
이곳에 사용된 가야금과 금속 타악기의 잔향은 때로는 결합을, 때로는 다른 구절로 연결이 되어 여음
의 특질을 한껏 살리고자 하였다.

Pansori is a comprehensive dramatic art that combines elements including the singer's
melody, onomatopoeia, plot, dialogue, gestures, facial expressions, emotions, and the
drummer's rhythm. The Falling Petal is a piece that reinterprets 'Simcheongga' using
sounds of Western and Korean instruments. Traditional pansori tells a story with the
voice of a singer. In this work, the elements that make up the story, such as text,
setting, and emotion, are described by the sound of instruments, thereby eliciting deeper
inner feelings, while broadening the scope of interpretation. It begins with the scene of
‘Funeral,‘ mourning the death of Shim Cheong's mother. It ends with the scene of
‘Indang-soo’ (Shim Cheong), who is sold as a sacrificial offering throwing herself into the
ocean to open the eyes of her blind father.
The slow and deep Nonghyeon (vibration) of various instruments and the long and
heavy glissando imply Shim Cheong's unlucky fate. In addition, the emotions of fear and
anxiety are expressed before falling into the ocean are revealed by the urgent inhalation
of Daegeum. The curved movement of the flexible sound is remarkable, and it gives
dimension and depth through the transition between timbres. ex) between flautato and
pressed/ air and 'Chung' of Daegeum
The characteristic 'Yeoum (reverberations)' of the gayageum and metal percussion
instruments (Jing, Cymbal, Bells, Singing bowls, Waterphone, etc) combine with each
other, are mixed with other sound layers, or are connected to different phrases.
