A Nice and Easy Dartmoor Wild Camp

At the end of a family holiday I booked my nearest and dearest into a hotel on Dartmoor for the night, and I went off to sleep on a hilltop. Or maybe I should say tor top.

It was a very simple, uncomplicated wild camp. A relatively short walk either side and no cooking this time (we'd had dinner at the pub earlier in the evening), but I did faff around for a few minutes making a hot chocolate. Oh and of course I took along a bottle of Gevrey Chambertin.

On the walk there I passed through Powdermills, a former gunpowder factory. The next morning I walked to Two Bridges by way of Wistman's Wood, a fragment of ancient temperate rainforest, and a glimpse of how much of Dartmoor once was.
