Glenn Gould’s Hammerklavier: INCAPABLE to reach Beethoven?

The the German Staatliches Institut für Musikforschung – the State Institute for Music Research - measured the tempi of 45 pianists' Beethoven Hammerklavier sonata. None of them reached Beethoven's tempo indication of 138. Glenn Gould being the slowest of all (almost). Let's find out why.
