The US Department of Energy has purchased the popular RED Calc tools and has made them free on the DOE's Building America Solution Center (BASC). In this course, we will explore the RED Calc suite of tools, particularly focusing on the ASHRAE 62.2 ventilation sizing tools. The course is targeted toward home energy professionals and those interested in home improvement. It is especially those needing to perform ventilation system sizing or other calculations in the field. A general practical knowledge of residential buildings and building science is helpful.

What did people learn who took our survey?
Based on the session survey results, participants learned that the RED Calc Pro tool is now free and can be used effectively in the field to assess ventilation requirements, specifically in relation to ASHRAE 62.2 standards. Many discovered the availability of additional tools within the RED suite, such as the RED Cal tool for HVAC exhaust systems, and the benefits of responsive ventilation that adjusts to seasonal and environmental changes.
CEU Lessons Learned
1. *Understand* the importance of using RED Calc tools on the BASC to improve indoor air quality and promote health through proper ventilation sizing in accordance with ASHRAE 62.2 standards and meeting the LEED BD+C V4 Homes EQ Ventilation Prereq.
2. *Analyze* the differences between the stand-alone RED Calc tools and the RED Calc Pro web app to ensure the safest application of ventilation strategies in various environments.
3. *Introduce* the updates in the ASHRAE 62.2 standard to better support occupant welfare by enhancing the effectiveness of ventilation systems over time and meeting the LEED BD+C V4 Homes EQ Ventilation Prereq.
4. *Articulate* how the RED Calc Tools contribute to optimized ventilation sizing to foster a healthier indoor environment for all occupants who meet the LEED BD+C V4 Homes EQ Ventilation Prereq.
