Panic 70 ft Underwater | Overcoming It & Continuing My Dive!

Scuba diving the Keystorm shipwreck was an incredible experience -- but it came with unexpected challenges. At 70 feet below the surface, I was next to the incredibly large hull of the ship and a wave of claustrophobia hit me and it made my heart race.

In that moment, I had a choice; let the fear take over or focus on my training, my breathing and the adventure ahead. Pushing through the discomfort, I reminded myself why I was here -- to explore, to experience and grow as a diver.

This dive turned into more than just a dive for my specialty, it became a personal challenge, one that tested my mental strength as much as my diving skills.

Always:
• Remain calm and reassess the situation and adjust accordingly.
• Get the proper training. Being a rescue diver and having that training also helped me get through this situation, to overcome it and continue my dive with no further problems!
• Learn from experiences, whether they are good or bad and apply what you learned to future dives!
• Remember, you can call a dive for any reason at anytime if you need to!
