A huge special thank you to @sammyurt for letting me use her cover of this song - isn't it amazing??? 😍😁✨ I looked through sooooo many covers to try to fit one for Lila (and a female cover that sounded awesome in general 😉) and this one blew me away. If you liked it too be sure to check out and support her channel which you can find here: 😁 • Your Idol - Saja Boys (KPop Demon Hunters)...
And thanks for watching my video too btw - it really means a lot.
(And wow you made it to the description too? You really are brave)
Oh - and another thank you to my very observant friend who helps me catch extra Lila scenes like the one at 3:01. 👀✨
The original song has such an epic intensity to it that builds with each verse that I absolutely love, but I kinda like this more subtle, haunting vibe - perfect for a theme of deception, manipulation, and a quiet evil that lurks behind a smile.
And yes, I know I already wrote a whole novel about this song (you can find that over here 😉 • Miraculous Ladybug x Kpop Demon Hunters - ... , but somehow…I still have more thoughts. 😂
Mainly that this fits Lila incredibly well.
My Gabriel video focused more on distraction and isolation — how he lures people into trusting only him. But Lila fits perfectly into the idol archetype: beautiful, admired, adored…and sinister underneath.
It’s eerie how that parallels something much bigger and something I think is worth considering.
From the very beginning, the devil wanted to be like God — to be worshiped, elevated, adored. Just like Lila, he feeds on admiration, fueled by pride and a bottomless hatred for the one who stands in his way.
And just like her, he’s willing to burn the world down if it means hurting the one he despises.
It’s tempting to think of the devil as a sympathetic character - a fallen angel with the brains to question a tyrannical and egocentric God, who just wants to give humans a chance to live freely and think for themselves, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Look at Lila - with Gabriel gone, Paris could finally be at peace, but no - she’s intentionally causing chaos and manipulating others in order to make Ladybug/Marinette suffer, and to fulfil her own desires no matter the cost to those around her.
While Gabriel is a villain who at least pretends to be motivated by love for his wife, Lila’s motivation is…herself.
Her image. Her fame. Her influence. Her ability to control others.
Her desire to crush Marinette and make Ladybug suffer.
The Butterfly miraculous doesn’t have to be used for evil. But no — she chooses destruction. She chooses manipulation. She chooses cruelty.
The devil operates the same way.
Not on a quest for freedom and fairness, but out of hatred and spite.
He knows his time is limited, and yet his ongoing rebellion is driven by pride, hatred, and a desire to steal away as many souls as he can, while the so-called freedom he offers will ultimately only serve himself and make you a pawn in his war against God.
I know this sounds kinda extreme and very religious-y, (and I promise I’m not trying to pressure or offend you in any way) but if the devil was real, and some evil entity was leading you to your destruction…wouldn’t you want to know about it?
One of my other favorite shows (How to Train Your Dragon Race to the Edge - boy that’s a long name lol) had an absolute banger of a quote, that really made me think and stuck with me in the years since I heard it:
“There are two ways of being fooled. One is to believe something that isn’t true. The other is to refuse to believe what is.”
Creepily insightful, right?
(Speaking of insights, as you probably guessed...I ran out of room again.😏😅 Check the pinned comment for more 💖)
