All of the runs shown in the video are done in real time (RTA) without the use of any tools, savestates, slowdown, etc. All stars are World Record as of May 28th 2020, although the dates of the individual runs themselves vary.
Spaceman’s Comments:
This is the result of a project ChrisLink and I started over 7 months ago in October 2019. We agreed that it would be a good idea to collaborate on a single star comp because neither of us had enough stars to make a full comp at the time, so we decided to top our 2018 and 2019 videos by trying to optimize every star to its maximum potential by helping each other out, and sometimes tying the same stars for added entertainment. The goal of this video is to hopefully shock and entertain the viewer by showing off our skill level, and NOT to put down anyone who previously had the record for the star. I have massive respect for many of the contenders showcased in the video, as they made us try even harder to push the times lower. As for making the video itself, doing the runs was a lot more fun with somebody else around, whether Chris was motivating me or also feeling my pain on some of the harder stars, I definitely think this was much better than my previous compilations where I was pretty much alone to try and do everything myself. I can confidently say that my times would not be nearly as low and optimized if not for him being so good at finding timesaves, so huge shoutouts to him for just being a great person to work with, and a great friend in general. Quite a few times our runs actually tie or beat the tool assisted speedruns for some stars which I think is pretty funny and cool as well. For editing, this took weeks because I had a lot of work ahead of me, and hardly any idea what I was doing since I was actually using a professional editing software and not just Lightworks for the first time. It was also during this time period where I found that balancing my real life responsibilities with this project was getting increasingly more difficult, and the tail end of this project was a lot of torture, just doing the same tedious things for hours in front of a screen. I know the video is not perfect, although I am completely satisfied with it, and the live reactions made me realize how worth it this all was in the end. I think moving on I might want to stray away from single star and do more experimental things such as commentated or documentary style videos, although I don’t know about that right now, so have no expectations. For now I will probably just be playing some stuff on twitch and acting like an idiot on stream with my friends. Once again to close this off thanks to the rom hack speedrunning community for being so supportive over the years, and generally being chill people to be around. Thanks as well to people from other communities who came to express their liking for this vid as well, it means a lot.
Peace
