Synthesis of 1-Phenylazo-2-naphthol from Aniline by Diazo-coupling Reaction. #ProfZiyaulHaque
Procedure:
Take 2.5ml of Aniline and add 8 ml of Conc. HCl and 8ml of Distilled Water……1
Dissolve 2gm of NaNO2 in 10ml Distilled water and put this solution in an ice bath….2
Add solution 2 in 1 drop wise with Stirring maintain Temp. 0 to 5 degree C
Add Diazonium salt drop wise to 2- Naphthol solution with continues stirring maintaining, the temp 0 to 5 degree C
After complete addition put the solution in ice bath for further 30 mints with occasional stirring. Filter the Product wash with cold water, Dry at RT. M.P. = 128 to 131 degree C
