Between 1764 and 1767, around one hundred people in the Geuvodon region of France met violent deaths. Around 50 or so people were able to survive terrifying and brutal attacks. According to the locals, the culprit behind these killings was a creature known simply as the Beast of Geuvodon.
What was this beast? Through the centuries, lots of different candidates have been proposed—everything from a wolf to a lion to an extinct species of hyena.
