This week, our Conner Prairie family is mourning the loss of someone truly special — Dwight Gallian, a gifted storyteller, dedicated interpreter, and cherished colleague.
For 24 years, Dwight brought history to life in a way only he could. From his early days portraying Mr. Curtis in the blacksmith barn to his meaningful work in the Lenape Experience, he shared his deep knowledge of fur trading, hide tanning, and Lenape culture with passion and care. His storytelling didn’t just inform — it inspired.
Dwight had a rare ability to connect with guests and colleagues alike. He honored the land, respected the animals, and poured his heart into every conversation and demonstration. Guests learned from him, staff admired him, and everyone who knew him felt his generosity of spirit.
His presence on the Prairie will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the stories he told and the lives he touched.
