Day 39 - Friday 11th October - Arzua to Amenal - 23.4km
The penultimate day! It was a long one for this senior tortoise and again the conditions were a mixed bag of intermittent rain - some heavy - with boggy tracks from time to time.
The woodland scenery really is beautiful and there’s plenty of food and drink amenities along the way for the pilgrims. However I have a strong sense that the walking numbers have really fallen away over the last couple of days as people have abandoned their pilgrimage. Not the long distance walkers of course!
I am a wee bit disappointed that my last night is not being spent in a busy small village ‘restaurant’ with other pilgrims but it just makes me appreciate the value of the other wonderful evenings I have had along the way. I’m thankful that the contents of my pack was able to feed me. An early night will give me a great start tomorrow!
