Here are 24 things that Michael and I learned about each other and our relationship after we moved in together 4 years ago!! We lived together for 2 years before getting engaged and have been together for 10 years total (we're high school sweethearts!). We also decided to move in together before marriage, and this video includes our story time of why we did it & the moving in together pros and cons!

NOTE: this video is not for everybody. Some people might be unable to move in with a partner before marriage for ideological or religious reasons (or would just prefer not to), and that's okay! Feel free to watch this video only if this is something you're considering / interested in trying!

Moving in together after a long distance relationship can be challenging. Actually, moving in together for the first time can be a challenge in and of itself. When you move in with a partner, you learn so much about each other and about your relationship as a couple. There are all those funny memes on instagram like: "moving in together expectation versus reality" -- and most of the time I just have to laugh. Michael did NOT know the reality of how messy I can be sometimes (I'm working on it!).

We truly believe that, if you move in with a partner before marriage, you can get all of those little nitty gritty relationship problems out of the way early on. Then, once you get married, you can return to life like normal and enjoy the "honeymoon stage" without also needing to figure out how to live together well.
