순희에게 : 귀하고 귀하다는 느티나무로 만든 빗접

🌿 저는 여성 독립운동가의 영상을 종종 찾아볼 때가 있어요.
그분들이 대의를 가지고 치열하게 사시느라 가져보기를 은근히 피했을 물건을, 영전에라도 헌정하고 싶다는 생각을 해요.이번 빗접도 그런 분들 중에 ‘순희’라는 이름을 가진 분께 만들어 드리고 싶어 제작했어요.
I sometimes find myself watching videos about women who dedicated their lives to Korea’s independence movement. Because they lived so fiercely for their cause, I imagine there were everyday belongings they quietly set aside. This jewel box (bijeop_Traditional Korean Comb and Ornament Box) was created in dedication to one of them—a woman named Soonhee.

🌿 제일 귀한 나무라 할 수 있는 느티나무로 비녀나 가락지, 또는 어여쁜 장신구를 담았던 빗접을 만들려 해요.그래서 제가 가지고 있는 느티나무 중 가장 오래된 나무를 골라 마름질했어요.
I wanted to craft a piece that could hold a cherished accessory—like a hairpin, a ring, or a small ornament—using the most precious wood of all, zelkova. So I chose the oldest piece of zelkova I had and began carving it.

늦게나마 순희님께 드리는 위로의 마음입니다.
Though belated, this is my heartfelt tribute to Soonhee.
