The video is a collection of cine clips taken during the 1970's showing some of the extensive flooding of the River Soar which occurs within the flood plain to the East of Hathern Village. The clips particularly show floods in the area around Zouch namely on the Hathern to Rempstone Road, Zouch Weirs and at the County Bridge (dividing Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire). Fortunately the floods rarely affect Hathern Village life itself and have been much less common now since various flood prevention schemes were implemented in the 1960's. Thank you to Mr I Swift for providing these vintage film clips and also to Hathern Local History Society.
