French guitarist and composer Ida Presti (1924–1967) is remembered as one of the greatest guitarists of the 20th century, celebrated both for her extraordinary virtuosity and for the legendary duo she formed with Alexandre Lagoya. Alongside her performing career, she left a small but remarkable body of original works that reveal her refined and personal musical voice.

Among them, Segovia (1962) stands out as one of her most substantial solo guitar pieces. Dedicated to Andrés Segovia, the work departs from the playful spirit of some of her earlier pieces, embracing instead a more serious and introspective tone. It is more than a dedication: an artistic homage that moves between lyrical intimacy and broader, expansive gestures, reflecting both Presti’s admiration for Segovia and her own mature expressiveness. A piece at once elegant, contemplative, and deeply musical.
