【AICHI JAPAN】Enjoy PLANTS in Toyohashi ～ Vegetarian & Organic Café Lunch & Hydrangeas ～

Introducing recommended spots in Toyohashi City, Aichi, Japan. This time we visited "VEGECAFE LOTUS". This is a cafe where you can enjoy carefully selected vegetable dishes. After enjoying lunch here, we visited "Iwata Sports Park (Iwata Undo Koen)" near the cafe and enjoyed a walk while looking at the hydrangeas in full bloom.

"VEGECAFE LOTUS" is a cafe with an impressive California-style exterior, with tall palm trees against a white wall. Passing through an arched approach covered with plants, and glancing at the terrace seats where you can feel the breeze and greenery, you enter the restaurant and are greeted by a classical and lovely interior that builds up anticipation. Beautiful plants can be seen from the large windows, and the soft light makes it very comfortable to relax in.
As the restaurant's name suggests, the food served here is made only with vegetables. No animal products or sugar are used in any of the dishes. They are all exquisite dishes that make the most of the natural flavors of the ingredients and are made with great ingenuity. The most popular dish is the "Brown Rice Lunch." This lunch uses plenty of seasonal vegetables and is the ultimate dish that is both delicious and healthy. The contents of the "Brown Rice Lunch" change every two weeks. This is limited to 20 servings per day, so if you absolutely want to eat it, you need to make a reservation! They also have a wide selection of sweets, especially the ice cream! This is something the owner really wanted to try and perfected after much trial and error. You'll be amazed at the elegant sweetness and creaminess. It's a masterpiece that makes you feel the potential of plants.
The owner was raised on a macrobiotic (brown rice vegetarian) diet from the age of two, majored in food science at university, and then studied orthomolecular nutrition in the US, earning a doctorate. That doesn't mean he never ate meat, though; he listened to his body and naturally developed into his current diet. He continues to research food and hosts study groups.
Some of the ingredients used in the restaurant are available for purchase, as well as at the nearby "GENKI PLUS Toyohashi Branch", a supermarket that carries carefully selected products.

"Iwata Sports Park (Iwata Undo Koen)" is a familiar facility for sports enthusiasts, with a baseball field and other facilities, but it also has a large pond with a fountain, and around 5,000 hydrangeas in various colors bloom along the promenade along the pond at this time of year. The sight of the hydrangeas soaked in rain or lit up by the sunlight after the rain is very beautiful, making it a place that can be enjoyed even during the rainy season.
