This piece ended up getting me a 2021 ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers Award, and I realized I never put up any recording or video of it! This is the best one I have, from the LA debut of my big band in 2019 at the Blue Whale. I miss both my big band and the Blue Whale so much.... Really hope there will be another great venue like the Whale to bring this group to once things are more back to normal. Featuring Ramsey Castaneda on the tenor solo, some fun trading between Alex Hahn and Adam Hersh, and Colin McDaniel on the drums. Also featuring Ryan DeWeese easily navigating some brutal lead parts I wrote for him.
