Today I review my Ram 2500's 6.4 Hemi engine and talk about why it is a good, strong reliable heavy duty engine. I mainly compare this engine to the 5.7 hemi and explain why it is a much stronger built engine. The 5.7 hemi is a great engine but the 6.4 hemi is built for towing heavy loads and built for durability in high load situations. Hello everyone! I'v been wanting to make this video for a while because I think it's interesting how they built the 6.4 in comparison to the 5.7 hemi. I was guilty at first thinking they were basically the same engine just one bigger and one smaller. but it turns out the 6.4 is built stronger resulting in many changes from the 5.7 hemi to the 6.4 hemi.

1. exhaust manifold leak (sounds like the hemi tick).
The 6.4 has reinforced stainless steam exhaust manifold studs and gaskets basically eliminating the possible of an exhaust manifold leak happening which is a huge bonus!

2. cooling
the 6.4 was completely redesigned with better cooling systems including a high flow oil cooler, piston oil jets and sodium filled exhaust valves. all of which make a big difference when the 6.e hemi engine is under load and towing.

3. forged crankshaft and thicker engine block
this makes this engine very strong and can allow drivers to abuse the engine much more then the 5.7.

4. hellcat Heads
the Heads on this 6.4 are basically the same as the hellcat. meaning that these heads provide lots of power but can stand extreme pressures and heat. perfect for towing situations. this is also why they say the truck version of the 6.4 is better for boost applications

These are the main reason why I think that the 6.4 is a much stronger engine then the 5.7. the 5.7 is still an awesome engine and it is a perfect engine for the ram 1500 trucks. but the 6.4 is much better suited for someone who is looking to work their truck hard day in and day out!
