KORG Nu:Tekt NTS-3 Kaoss Pad is cheap and versatile effects unit with XY pad. Its best feature is that you can program your own effects and oscillators, just like in Korg NTS-1.
However, I was disappointed when I noticed that there was no MIDI input and output connectors in the unit. It seemed to be using USB MIDI only. But... then I noticed something peculiar. Its user manual seemed to indicate that at some point Korg had designed MIDI input and output in unit, but removed them later, leaving only SYNC IN and OUT. Settings indicated use of dedicated MIDI routing, and there was a picture of NTS-3 back panel with MIDI IN and OUT.
So, I guessed that there could be a way to use them, and I was right. When I opened NTS-3 again, I noticed two jumpers, and text SYNC -- MIDI. This is an undocumented feature, but it works. With these two jumpers you can change SYNC IN and OUT connectors to MIDI IN and OUT connectors. You just have to move both jumpers in other position.
This little hack made NTS-3 just perfect.
