So you want to become an official Newfoundlander huh? Well, just going to Newfoundland isn't quite enough. You have to get specialty certified - don't ya know!
During our time in Newfoundland's capital city of St. John's we decided that we would take the time be become official Newfoundlanders ourselves and got "Screeched In" - the name given to the ceremony.
In the screeched in ceremony, you take an oath and kiss a cod. That's right, like the fish!
We were fortunate enough to be screeched in by the same person who helped world famous traveler Anthony Bourdain - a man at Christian's Bar on George Street in downtown St. Johns.
