A Light Exists in Spring’ is one of the nearly 1,800 poems Emily Dickinson wrote. It was published along with her other poems published posthumously in 1890 in the volume Poems by Emily Dickinson.
‘A Light Exists in Spring’ is a simple nature poem, and yet at the same time, it has a Biblical connotation, for the light symbolises faith, and the poem, which really spoke to me recently, is about the spring season. This strives to portray a certain kind of light that “exists in spring” or very near spring.
Taking my cameras and drone onto the moors of North Yorkshire in early Spring, as the daffodils where still in bloom, I hope this short film fills your senses and brings a glimpse of light in this dark world we often exist in.
The music is by one of my all-time favourite musicians and composers, the former Deep Purple keyboard player, Mr Jon Lord, as is taken from his album entitled 'To Notice Such Things'. This is a very special album for me, and even though Jon was a hugely successful rock musician, this album really proved his worth as a classical composer. This beautiful work for piano, flute and string orchestra is a musical tribute to Jon's friend, the late Sir John Mortimer, who was famous to millions as the creator of Rumpole of the Bailey. On this moving work, Jon himself plays piano, Cormac Henry is the flautist, and the supple and rich string sound is provided by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra - Classic FM's Orchestra in the North-West of England.
