Planning a trip to the SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA?
Here are the things you need to know before visiting:
1. Visa Requirements

2. Health Precautions
Vaccinations: Get yellow fever vaccination. You need to show them the yellow fever card. If not, you can have it in the Airport for 50$ per pax.

3. Currency and Money
Currency: The official currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS). US dollars are also widely accepted, especially in tourist areas.
ATMs: Major cities like Dar es Salaam and Arusha have ATMs, but rural areas may have limited access, so it’s advisable to carry enough cash.
4. Language
Swahili is the official language of Tanzania some understands English.
5. Safety
Tanzania is generally safe for tourists, but it’s important to exercise caution in urban areas, especially after dark.
Always use trusted transportation services and keep your valuables secure.
6. Local Cuisine
Tanzanian food is influenced by both African and Arab cultures. You can find fresh meat , fresh vegetables , fruits and seafood in the market.
7. Electricity
Tanzania uses a 230V supply with 50Hz, and the power plugs are typically type D and G, so you may need a plug adapter if your devices use a different plug type.
8. Transport
Public transport: Buses and dala-dalas (minivans) are the most common forms of public transport. Uber and bolt are also available. Electric Train is also operational in some areas.
Driving: If you're planning to rent a car, you’ll need a valid international driver’s permit. *Remember that in Tanzania, people drive on the left side of the road.
9. Time Zone
Tanzania follows East Africa Time (EAT), which is UTC +3 hours. There is no daylight saving time.
10. Internet and Communication
While most major hotels, lodges, and restaurants in larger cities offer Wi-Fi, the signal can be intermittent in more remote areas. Local SIM cards with data plans are available for purchase.
11. Respect for Local Traditions
Many parts of Tanzania are very traditional. For example, it’s respectful to ask for permission before taking photos of people, especially in rural areas.
