Revealed at a high-profile event in London’s O2 Arena, the new Formula 1 car represents a mix of continuity and innovation, blending experience with fresh technical concepts. This grand launch, attended by Ferrari Chief Executive Officer Benedetto Vigna, Team Principal Fred Vasseur, and drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, marks the beginning of a crucial season for the team.

The SF-25 is set to make its first track appearance in a private shakedown session at Fiorano, where it will cover up to 200 kilometers before heading to Bahrain for pre-season testing from February 26 to February 28. While the name follows Ferrari’s usual format, maintaining a sense of stability, the car itself is entirely new. It is the fourth iteration of Ferrari’s second-generation ground effect cars since the regulations changed in 2022, and the team has reworked multiple aspects to ensure it remains competitive in what is expected to be an extremely tight grid.

One of the biggest changes on the SF-25 is its front suspension. Ferrari has moved from a pushrod to a pull rod design, a decision that was driven by aerodynamic improvements. Cleaning up airflow around the car provides better aerodynamic efficiency and opens new avenues for development. This shift is part of Ferrari’s broader goal of maximizing every possible performance gain, knowing that in a season where regulations remain stable, even the smallest improvements could make the difference between winning and losing.

Under the bodywork, the power unit remains largely unchanged due to regulatory restrictions. However, Ferrari engineers have been working relentlessly on optimizing power unit performance. The focus has been on fine-tuning how the power unit is used throughout a race weekend, extracting every last bit of efficiency from the system. With limited testing hours available, the team has taken lessons from the 2024 season and applied them to ensure the highest possible level of reliability and performance.

Ferrari has also made a bold statement with the SF-25’s livery. The 2025 Racing Red color is darker than before, with a matte finish that pays tribute to the Scuderia’s rich history. A striking white band cuts across the car, symbolizing progress and a forward-thinking vision. Glossy red and white stripes are subtly integrated into the design, echoing Ferrari’s meticulous attention to detail, both in its road cars and its race cars. The wheels are entirely red, and the numbers on the cars of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are displayed in white using Ferrari’s signature typeface, Ferrari Sans.

After its Fiorano shakedown, the SF-25 will make its way to Bahrain for pre-season testing, which will be the team’s only opportunity to evaluate the car in real-world conditions before the season opener in Australia on March 16.
