In this video, I show how to create a standalone telephone system using two regular landline phones and a single analog telephone adaptor (ATA). The phones behave exactly like real telephones — you get a dial tone, ringing, and proper call connection — but everything works completely offline!
This setup is perfect for making a on-stage telephone ring as a theatre prop, for escape rooms, museum or art exhibitions, intercoms or creative projects where you want a create a working phone call between two phones without needing a telephone network or the internet. And no hardware modifications or coding required :)
I demonstrate the full configuration using a Grandstream HT-802 ATA, including how to set up internal dialing, optional auto-dial (intercom-style operation), and how to enable static IP so that the system runs completely standalone once configured.
