Jackie Brown is my favourite Tarantino film, and I can talk about its rich, layered narrative and characterisations endlessly. One of the standout roles for me in the film is that of Melanie Ralston, played by Bridget Fonda - a deceptively small role that has catastrophic effects on the plot of the film.
In this visual essay, I do a deep dive into Melanie's role in the film, focussing on the differences between the original Elmore Leonard Novel, Rum Punch, and Tarantino's eventual film version and how he made Melanie's role a more significant one.
