Devils Hole is a spring-fed pool in southern Nevada, and also a cave of unknown depth. This mysterious hole has been the site of diving accidents, scientific research, and political controversy due to its population of Devils Hole Pupfish, a tiny fish who's entire habitat is confined to the uppermost shelf of this cave. Geologically, it's a fissure dissolved out of the limestone by groundwater aided by a geologic fault. It remains one of Death Valley National Park's most fascinating, important, and delicate natural features.
