05. 승무
승무는 대표적인 예술춤의 하나이며, 중요무형문화재 제27호로 지정되어 있다. 가사 장삼에 고깔을 쓴 무용수는 무거운 업을 벗는 과정, 속세와의 결별, 해탈의 경지에 이르는 희열을 고요한 듯 하면서도 역동적으로 표현한다.

05. Seungmu
Designated as Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 27, Seungmu is one of the most representative art dances. There are various theories as to the origin of Seungmu, but it is, in fact, a combination of different elements, including Buddhist Beopgomu dance, mask dance, and shamanistic Jeseokgut. The current form was established by Han Seong-jun in the 1930’s, and has been passed along by Han Young-sook and Lee Mae-bang. A dancer wearing a Buddhist robe and a cone-shaped hat expresses in a calm yet dynamic manner the process of taking off a heavy karma, leaving the secular world, and then reaching nirvana. A Samhyeonyukgak ensemble derived from Daepungnyu accompanies the dance.
