This is a documentation of the life of Dr. Ruth Pfau, a doctor, nun and often considered modern prophet. She is also often called "The Mother Theresa of Pakistan" where she helped to fight and control leprosy and blindness.
Ruth Pfau is born in 1929 in Leipzig, Germany (0:03). 1949 her family moves from the GDR to Mainz, West Germany where she studies medicine and becomes a doctor (0:20). During her time as student she seeks for an inner middle (0:30) and lets baptize herself to the protestant christianity in 1951 but already converts to the roman-catholic christianity in 1953 (0:43). Later she graduated around 1956 (0:58). In 1957 she travels to Paris, France and joins the "Filles du Coeur de Marie" a christian order (1:11). 1960 she is sent to India to become a gynaecologist (1:27) but due to problems with her visa she has to make a stop in Karachi, Pakistan (1:48). While she stays there she first encounters a victim of leprosy (2:08) and sees the poverty of the people and even the doctors qualified to fight leprosy don't have the financial support to help the patients (2:15).She decides to stay in Pakistan and in 1963 she founds the "Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center" (2:43) She was also the director of this clinic until 2013. When she visited a prison she saw the poor circumstances of the inmates, many of them had gone blind. She decided to collaborate with the "Christoffel-blind-mission" to fight against unnecessary blindness (3:28). During her life she received all kinds of awards, going from different medicine and human rights awards, three german and three pakistani medals and some other (3:51). Ruth Pfau died in 2017, was declared a national heroine and got a state funeral (4:06).

Während ihrer Studienzeit suchte sie nach einer inneren Mitte (0:30) und ließ sich 1951 evangelisch taufen, bevor sie schon 1953 zur katholischen Kirche konvertierte (0:43). Um 1956 machte sie ihren Abschluss (0:58) und 1957 trat sie der Ordensgemeinschaft "Filles du Coeur de Marie" in Paris bei (1:11). 1960 wird sie nach Indien geschickt um als Frauenärztin zu arbeiten (1:27) aber wegen Visumsproblemen muss sie in Karatschi, Pakistan einen Zwischenstopp einlegen (1:48). Dort sieht sie zum ersten mal die Zustände der Lepraopfer und die der behandelnden Ärzte (2:08). Sie entscheidet sich in Pakistan zu bleiben und gründet 1963 das "Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center" (2:43). Nach einem Gefängnisbesuch begann sie mit der "Christoffel Blindenmission" zu kollaborieren (3:28). In ihrem Leben bekam sie alle Arten von Auszeichnungen, darunter viele Medizin-Preise, drei Bundesverdienstkreuze, drei Pakistanische Orden und einige andere (3:51).
Ruth Pfau starb 2017 wurde zur Nationalheldin und bekam ein Staatsbegräbnis (4:06).
