Why you should learn Finnish | WNF | Ep.3

Welcome to "What's Next Finland?", a 6-episode podcast series that will tell you all about living, studying and working in Finland as an international. Our guests from all around the globe will do their best to advise and guide you throughout your Finnish journey.

Today we welcome Ameya (India-Finland) who is fluent in Finnish and Mikael (Finland) who is a Finnish language teacher. In this episode, you’ll find advice on why newcomers should learn Finnish and what are the different ways to reach your language goals.

• Noémie Hueber (France)
After two Erasmus exchanges, Noémie decided to stay in Finland and start Radio Turku, a podcast that helps Finns and internationals connect and break down cultural barriers. Her new project, What's Next Finland?, aims to give newcomers a broad vision of Finnish society and work culture. She is a soon-to-be-graduate from a master’s degree in English language and literature and has recently been nominated Young Changemaker in the Nordics by the NGO Ashoka.

• Ameya Foujdar (Finland-India)
After moving from India to Finland, Ameya graduated from a Master of International and Comparative Law (MICL). Attracted by the public sector in Finland, he decided to start a career in the Partnerships and Strategic Engagement unit of the University of Turku where he has been working as a coordinator for the past two years.

• Mikael Varjo (Finland)
Mikael has been teaching Finnish language to beginners and fluent speakers in many Finnish universities, but also abroad in California. At SIMHE (the organisation Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland), he offers private appointments to Finnish learners who want to deepen their language practice.
