1. Integrated Redevelopment Project:
The Maharashtra state government has approved a large-scale, integrated redevelopment plan led by private developers in partnership with the state. The plan involves demolishing old, unsafe structures and replacing them with high-rise residential and commercial buildings. This would free up space for roads, parks, schools, and healthcare facilities.

2. Free Housing for Eligible Residents:
Under the current plan, people who can prove residency before a certain cutoff date (usually 2000 or 2011, depending on policy) will receive free, formal housing within the redeveloped area. These new homes will typically be 300–350 square feet in size, with private toilets and basic amenities.

3. Improved Infrastructure:

Dharavi is a hub for small-scale industries such as leather, pottery, recycling, textiles, and food processing.
