Toured up the South Fork of Eagle River to ground truth new storm totals. We found 4" to 8" of fresh, soft, low-density snow. It did appear to have come in with some wind, and we got some small shooting cracks along the ridgeline.
We dug two quick pits along the ridge to take a look at snowpack trends. There was a thin suncrust, but the majority of the snowpack was still a "wintery" snowpack with rounding facets and depth hoar from recent warmer temperatures.
This amount of snow can make touchy snowpack conditions- especially when the wind gets to it (which will most likely happen shorty!)
