青天有月来几时？
我今停杯一问之。
人攀明月不可得，
月行却与人相随。
皎如飞镜临丹阙，
绿烟灭尽清辉发。
但见宵从海上来，
宁知晓向云间没？
白兔捣药秋复春，
嫦娥孤栖与谁邻？
今人不见古时月，
今月曾经照古人。
古人今人若流水，
共看明月皆如此。
唯愿当歌对酒时，
月光长照金樽里。

【Raising My Cup to Ask the Moon】

How long has the bright moon graced the sky so clear?
I pause with my cup, and ask it here.
Though humans reach, the moon we cannot hold,
Yet it travels with us, faithful and bold.

Bright as a mirror above the crimson gate,
Green mists disperse, its light radiates.
We see it rise from the sea at night,
Who knows where it sinks with morning light?

The white rabbit pounds herbs through autumn and spring,
Alone, Chang’e dwells—who hears her sing?
We cannot see the moon of ages past,
Yet this same moon shone on them steadfast.

Ancient and present flow like endless streams,
Together we watch the moon, sharing its beams.
When singing and drinking, may it always gleam,
Its silver light dancing in my golden cup’s dream.
