"We Three Kings" is a traditional Christian carol, also known as "We Three Kings of Orient Are." It was written in 1857 by John Henry Hopkins Jr., a Protestant bishop and American composer, and is one of the first carols composed in the United States.
The carol tells the story of the three kings who followed the guiding star to Bethlehem to present gifts to baby Jesus: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
