The Alcubierre Drive is a hypothetical warp drive. Instead of the spacecraft itself exceeding light speed, it'd contract space around it to be able to effectively travel light speed. In order to contract space itself, we'd need some sort of matter that hasn't been found yet, and that's why we don't have warp drives. And knowing is half the battle!
