Improper handling of CMAS (Commercial Mobile Alert System) alert by Handcent for Android. I received over 400 separate alerts during this 15 minute test. MORE \/ \/ \/ \/
The CMAS system is designed to alert you of dangerous weather conditions (tornadoes, earthquakes/aftershocks, etc) as well as emergencies such as evacuations and Presidential alerts. The alerts are broadcast continuously by cell towers in the affected/warned area, for the purpose of alerting anyone who enters the warned area after the initial alert. However, the phone is supposed to alert ONCE and ignore all subsequent alerts unless the text of the alert has changed/updated. As you can see, that is clearly not happening here.
And yeah I know this is a stupid boring video but its main intent was to accompany my bug report to Handcent to illustrate the problem so they can fix it.
