18th Anniversary of the CHT Accord celebrated in Rangamati demanding its full implementation

On 2 December 2015, at 10:00 am Parbatya Chatagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) organised a public gathering at Rangamati Gymnasium premises in Rangamati city on the occasion of 18th Anniversary of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Accord demanding its full implementation.

Presided over by Sadhuram Tripura, Central Member of the PCJSS and Member of CHT Regional Council, the public meeting was attended by Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma, President of the PCJSS and Chairman of the CHT Regional Council, as chief guest while Fazle Hossain Badsha, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh and Convenor of Parliamentary Caucus of Indigenous Affairs, as the guest of honor. President of CHT Citizens' Committee Goutam Dewan; Professor of Department of Anthropology of Chittagong University Dr. Rahman Nasir Uddin; and President of Jatiya Adivasi Parishad Rabindranath Soren were present as special guest. Besides, Organizing Secretary of the PCJSS Shakti Pada Tripura; Assistant Organizing Secretary of PCJSS and member of CHT Regional Council K S Mong Marma; Central Member of the PCJSS Udayan Tripura; General Secretary of Parbatya Chattagram Mahila Samiti Suprabha Chakma, among others, delivered speech in the program.

Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma, in his speech as chief guest, said, "The process of implementation of the CHT Accord remained in the deadlock. Instead of implementing the Accord, the conspiracy of extinction of the Jumma peoples is continuing in the CHT. Jumma people are to spend tortured, oppressed, endanger and insecure lives in every moment, in the midst of Islamization in one hand and Militarization on the other.' He also said, 'We have signed the Accord. We want the proper implementation of the CHT Accord. We are the people who were struggling for our basic rights, we want to get free from exploitation and oppression in CHT.

গত ২ ডিসেম্বর ২০১৫ সকাল ১০ঘটিকায় পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রাম চু্ক্তি বাস্তবায়নের দাবিতে পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রাম জনসংহতি সমিতির উদ্যোগে রাঙ্গামাটি শহরের জিমনেসিয়াম প্রাঙ্গণে এক বিশাল গণসমাবেশ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। গণসমাবেশের আগে পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রাম জনসংহতি সমিতির সহযোগি সংগঠন গিরিসূর শিল্পী গোষ্ঠী গণসংগীত পরিবেশন করেন।
পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রাম জনসংহতি সমিতির সদস্য ও পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রাম আঞ্চলিক পরিষদের সদস্য সাধুরাম ত্রিপুরার সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠিত গণসমাবেশে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জনসংহতি সমিতির সভাপতি ও আঞ্চলিক পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান জ্যোতিরিন্দ্র বোধিপ্রিয় লারমা, সম্মানিত অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বাংলাদেশের ওয়ার্কার্স পার্টির সাধারণ সম্পাদক ও আদিবাসী বিষয়ক সংসদীয় ককাসের সভাপতি ফজলে হোসেন বাদশা এবং বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রাম নাগরিক কমিটির সভাপতি গৌতম দেওয়ান, চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের নৃবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের অধ্যাপক ড. রাহমান নাসির উদ্দিন, জাতীয় আদিবাসী পরিষদের সভাপতি রবীন্দ্রনাথ সরেন। এছাড়া বক্তব্য রাখেন জনসংহতি সমিতির সহ-সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক ও আঞ্চলিক পরিষদের সদস্য কে এস মং মারমা, জনসংহতি সমিতির সদস্য উদয়ন ত্রিপুরা, পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রাম মহিলা সমিতির সাধারণ সম্পাদক সুপ্রভা চাকমা এবং স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন জনসংহতি সমিতির সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক শক্তিপদ ত্রিপুরা।
গণসমাবেশে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে জ্যোতিরিন্দ্র বোধিপ্রিয় লারমা বলেন, ‘পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রাম চুক্তি বাস্তবায়নের প্রক্রিয়া আজ অচলাবস্থার মধ্যে রয়ে গেছে। চুক্তি বাস্তবায়নের পরিবর্তে পার্বত্য অঞ্চলের বুকে জুম্ম জনগণের অস্তিত্ব বিলুপ্তির ষড়যন্ত্র অব্যাহতভাবে চলছে। একদিকে ইসলামীকরণ, অন্যদিকে সামরিকীকরণ –এই দুই ষড়যন্ত্রের মধ্যস্থলে আজকে জুম্ম জনগণকে তিলে তিলে নির্যাতিত, নিপীড়িত, বিপর্যস্ত ও নিরাপত্তাহীন জীবন নিয়ে প্রতিটি মুহুর্ত অতিবাহিত করতে হচ্ছে।’ তিনি আরো বলেন, ‘আমরা চুক্তি স্বাক্ষর করেছি। আমরা পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রাম চুক্তির যথাযথ বাস্তবায়ন চাই। আমরা পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রামের নিপীড়িত-নির্যাতীত জুম্ম জনগণ, আমরা যারা অধিকারকামী, আমরা শাসন-শোষণ-নিপীড়ন থেকে মুক্তি লাভ করতে চাই।’
