ADF | HMAS Ballarat - Regional Presence Deployment 25-4

A multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) between Australia, New Zealand, the United States and the Philippines occurred off the west coast of Luzon within the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone on 30-31 October 2025. The activity included Royal Australian Navy Anzac class frigate HMAS Ballarat with its embarked MH-60R helicopter; Philippine Navy vessel BRP Jose Rizal and its embarked Wildcat helicopter; Royal New Zealand Navy auxiliary ship HMNZS Aotearoa and its embarked Seasprite helicopter, United States Navy Arleigh-Burke guided missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald, as well as a United States Navy P-8 Poseidon aircraft. The MCA demonstrates a shared commitment to transparently promote and strengthen regional and international cooperation in support of an open and inclusive Indo-Pacific. It also demonstrates a shared commitment to upholding the right to freedom of navigation and overflight in accordance with international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
