Blast from the Past: 25 years ago Wire recorded their last ever win at Knowsley Road, coming from 10 nil down to win 21-11. Having previously beaten Saints 16-8 in the Regal Trophy at their own ground and 17-10 at Wilderspool the treble was completed in January 1994. A searing break down the right wing brought a brilliant try saving tackle from the ever alert Kevin Ellis on Steve Prescott, only for Saints to switch the play and Sean Casey to steam over for the opener. Paul Loughlin missed the conversion and a penalty to keep it at 4 nil. On the 20 minute mark good build up play again by Saints saw Casey followed up a kick through to grab his second and Loughlin converted to make it 10-nil. With the hooter looming Wire finally made some ground and broke the St Helens resistance with Lee Penny stepping his way pasty Phil Vievers for Wire's first score. Davies added the extras for 10-6. 5 minutes into the second half Davies kicked a penalty after Sonny Nickle had gone hunting for Ellis' head. With an hour gone Gus O'Donnell kicked a drop goal to break the stalemate with Saints' only point of the half. Then as both packs were trying to prove dominance it was Jiffy's break from nothing that set up Rob Myler to score thanks to a fumble to give him a walk in and Wire the lead. Eventually Warrington started to get on top and Rowland Phillips' pass put Mike Gregory in at he corner for the winner. Davies doing the extras with the 1 and 2 pointers for a win that unbeknown to anybody would be Warrington's last triumph away to Saints until 2011.
