This was a 2-day 1-night backpacking trip to Sheep Camp in the Los Padres National Forest. The snow wasn't too deep or icy so we didn't need snowshoes or microspikes to get to Sheep Camp which is about 5 miles from the Nordic Base. Along the way we passed by Mt Pinos and Sawmill Mountain both at about 8840 feet elevation. Sheep camp is at about 8300 feet elevation and has a flowing spring which is nice so you don't need to melt snow for drinking water. The low temperature got down to about 30 degrees overnight, but we made a camp fire to keep us warm. The date of this trip was March 22nd to 23rd, 2025.
