Detroit My Home
The streets of Detroit call my name tonight
Royal Oak whispers through the pale streetlight
I got my first motorcycle back in seventy-six
Learned to ride in the fields along 10 mile.
Oh
I'm missing my home
Where the snow softly falls
Grandma's smile
The warmth of her calls
Washington Street
Where the memories grew
Detroit
My heart
I'm still tied to you
Had my first kiss in Warren in 1978
Saw Grease at the theatre.
So Young and innocent
But that is all gone now.
Oh
The past feels so close
Like it’s breathing near
Detroit's heartbeat
It's all I hear
Oh
I'm missing my home
here the snow softly falls
Grandma's smiles
The warmth of her calls
Washington Street
Where the memories grew
Detroit
My heart
I'm still tied to you
My mind always sees ghosts of the past
Things that can never be again.
Grandma’s old stories
Her laugh in the air
I’d give up the world just to sit in that chair across from her again.
