In this video I derive Binet's formula using techniques in linear algebra. By first showing that there is a matrix whose powers have entries that are the fibonacci numbers (the Fibonacci Matrix), I use diagonalization to find an explicit formula for the entries of the matrix in terms of it's eigenvalues, and hence derive Binet's formula.
