Hardstone Psycho is Don Toliver’s fourth studio album, and his first creation since the formation of Hardstone Records. The first single of the album, Bandit was teased for the months in the run-up to its February 2nd 2024 release, and introduced listeners to a largely unexplored alleyway of Don Toliver’s sound, introducing high-energy rock into his sound selection. In the song’s music video, Don Toliver introduced a new leather-jacket biker theme which remains imminent in his run-up to the album, and announced his first child, with partner Kali Uchis.

Following the high intensity of his hit-song Bandit, Toliver released a relatively smoother cut, Deep in The Water on March 14, having previously previewed the track at the end of the Bandit MV, and began teasing fan favourite songs possibly on the album, including Tore Up inspired by a rock heavy instrumental, It’s Up and Attitude with Charlie Wilson and Cash Cobain, which released on streaming services accompanied by a music video on 22nd May, featuring cameos from Hardstone Records members as well as fellow collaborator and Cactus Jack label-mate Travis Scott. The music video introduced other new, yet similar to before, parts of Don’s Hardstone world, with quad bikes and a monster truck being a major part of the MV.

Performing these songs at 2024 Rolling Loud California and at LIV Miami, Toliver announced that the album will likely see a release late-summer of 2024, and later announced alongside with the release of his Attitude music video, that the album would see a release on the 14th of June 2024; the same day he is set to headline 2024’s Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash in Bridgeview, USA alongside fellow Cactus Jack members Travis Scott, Sheck Wes, SoFaygo, and Chase B.

On the same day, Don teased 4 additional alternative covers on his website, and introduced new segments (possibly 4 parts to the 16-song album) including ‘deadman’s canyon’, ‘promise land’, ‘thunder road’ and ‘twin peaks’. With Toliver’s LP for the album being split into 4 sides, and his Apple Music pre-save having 4 segments numbered 1-4, it is heavily speculated that each category refers to a particular segment of Don Toliver’s Hardstone Psycho world.

In early June, Don Toliver’s album rollout merged worlds with Fortnite, as he teased his own in game creative map and a potential skin, alongside a Hardstone label backbling and potential motorbike decals. With this, Don became the first artist in Fortnite’s history with their own original gamemode.

Days before the release of Hardstone, Don previewed more tracks on the album, with speculated features from Kodak Black, Travis Scott, Future, Cash Cobain and Charlie Wilson.

The album was originally expected to release as a sequel to his coveted Life of a DON (2021), in 2024.
