Germany Prosecutes Respected Conservative Politician Who Defends Palestinians w/ Jürgen Todenhöfer

German authorities have launched a criminal proceeding against Jürgen Todenhöfer, who served for 18 years as a member of Germany’s Bundestag for the governing Christian Democratic Union (CDU).
Prosecutors allege that Dr. Todenhöfer violated Germany’s criminal laws by condemning Benjamin Netanyahu’s atrocities against Palestinian civilians and Olaf Scholz’s lavish support for the proxy war in Ukraine. German police have seized Dr. Todenhöfer’s phones and computer devices.
In 2019, during the Great March of Return in the Gaza Strip, Dr. Todenhöfer was shot by an Israeli sniper. He never recovered fully from his grievous shoulder wound.
