Ford F-150 King Ranch: The Luxury Handbag of Trucks

The 2025 Ford F-150 SuperCrew King Ranch is a big, fancy, Texas-style pickup truck. To understand its place in the world, we need to know more about the Ford F-Series lineup.

The Ford F-Series dates back to 1948, when Ford offered three engine options: a 95-horsepower six-cylinder and two V8s making 100 and 145 horsepower, respectively. Whereas today the trucks get bigger and tougher under the name designations of F-150, F-250, F-350, and F-450, those original F-Series trucks fell under a name classification of F-1, F-2, F-3, and F-4. As the years went on, the numbers grew.

We are currently on the 14th generation of the Ford F-Series, which debuted in 2020 to replace the 13th. In 2025, the F-150 starts at $38,810 USD, and this King Ranch is one of the top specs of the truck. It starts at $74,905. The current F-150 trims are XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Tremor, generally in that order.

The modern F-150 has a huge range: You can get a base-model, single-cab work truck (the XL), you can take it on commercial jobs, you can make it into an off-road build, or you can just ride around to the office or road trip in it. You can even buy an electric one, or upgrade to a Super Duty F-Series truck with a PowerBoost diesel and heavy hauling capacity.

The King Ranch edition of the F-150 is tied to a 825,000-acre property in Texas called King Ranch , which has been around for nearly 200 years. Ford has a partnership with King Ranch to make these vehicles, and above the infotainment screen, there’s a motif of the King Ranch Carriage House.

The most common visual is the King Ranch “Running W.” You can see it on places like the center console, glove box, doors, headrests, and wheels. The Running W has been around since 1869, and King Ranch says it’s not known where the W came from. Some people say it represents a diamondback rattlesnake. Others say it comes from the shape of a  creek. Others say it’s a reference to the horns of a Texas Longhorn.

The 2025 Ford F-150 King Ranch in this video has a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 engine and hybrid system, and Ford calls it “PowerBoost.” (Not EcoBoost.) It makes 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque, and that power goes to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission. There is also keyless entry, along with keyless running boards.
