Jeddah To Taif | Saudi Arabia | Road Trip

#JEDDAH :

Jeddah is the second largest city after Riyadh, it is the main port of the Kingdom on the Red Sea and the main gate through which most of the pilgrims arrive by air and sea to perform Umrah, Haj or to visit the two holy mosques. The area inhabited is more than 1,500 km, and the population is more than one and a half million. Jeddah is an industrial and active commercial center, with modern features, squares, and courtyards. It is an important tourism center, with an eighty-kilometer long beautiful corniche on the Red Sea coast. Jeddah also comprises the King Abdul Aziz University, King Abdul Aziz International Airport, and Jeddah Islamic Port. King Fahd Fountain is located inside the Red Sea, near the coast, and is an outstanding feature of the port of Jeddah particularly during the night when it sends beautiful colored water up to two hundred and sixty meters. The name Jeddah meaning the "Ancestor of Women" is attributable to the tomb in the city which is believed to belong to Eve. Today, it is not however possible to see that interesting place since the Saudi Arabian government had the tomb destroyed for the reason that it would instigate perversions in the religion. Jeddah which gained importance during the Ottoman rule, was incorporated into the Kingdom of Hejaz and later came under the British control. It joined the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1927.

#MAKKAH :

Mecca, or in Arabic Makkah is a city in western Saudi Arabia. It is located in the Sarawat Mountains (Sarat), which run parallel to the eastern coast of the Red Sea. It is the capital of the Makkah Region. As of 2021, Mecca’s population is 2,078,766. People of Islam believe that Mecca was first inhabited by the descendants of Ishmael (the first son of Abraham). Muhammad, the founder of Islam and the proclaimer of the Qurʾān, was born in Mecca in 570. Because Mecca is a city of Islam, strict laws are enforced and the government of Saudi Arabia forbids all non-Muslims from entering the holy city of Mecca.

#TAIF :

Taif is a city in the Mecca Province of southwest Saudi Arabia. It’s known for 20th-century Shubra Palace, a grand, white-walled building with latticework windows. Now the Taif Regional Museum, it exhibits artifacts from Islamic and pre-Islamic periods. In the west, King Fahad Garden has grassy lawns, restaurants and a lagoon. Just east is Taif National Park, with trees and a large dam. The city has been called the unofficial summer capital of Saudi Arabia and has also been called the best summer destination in Saudi Arabia as it enjoys a moderate weather during summer, unlike most of the Arabian Peninsula. The city owes its popularity among tourists to its many mountain resorts and moderate climate, even during the harsh summers of Arabia. The city is connected to the nearby resort town of al-Hada via the iconic Highway 15 (Taif–al-Hada Road). It stands out from the rest of the Hejaz region as it is a city that plays an active role in the agricultural output of Saudi Arabia and is the center of an agricultural area known for its cultivation of grapes, pomegranate, figs, roses and honey. Taif is also very active in the manufacturing of traditional 'Ittar, and is known locally as the City of Roses. Taif also hosts the historic Souq 'Okaz.
