At first, the plan was simple — to feed the tabby with white who caught my attention. He was asking for food, staying close, clearly interested, so I put some food down and started offering it to him.
But then, unexpectedly, a calico cat appeared from around the corner. Without hesitation, she stepped in and made it clear that the food was now her concern. The two cats faced each other, locked in a long staredown, neither willing to back off.
The staredown had a clear outcome. The calico cat won, took over the food, ate everything, and walked away with the confidence of a true winner.
